inside outside project

This project involved working with people who have experienced homelessness or housing insecurity to participate in a series of creative workshops where they shared their stories and perspectives.  Over the span of 2 months we met regularly, making art, dialoguing and building a safe space together in an unused store front at Sunnycrest Mall.

As part of The Inside Outside Project, Deer Crossing the Art Farm reached out to community members to hear their stories and perspectives about homelessness. We held an Open House exhibition to share this work with the wider community.

welcome to the discomfort zone

The showcase at Sunnycrest Mall was an opportunity for members of the community, leaders of service and housing organizations, and those with lived experience to come together. This in and of itself felt momentous. Guests were guided through a maze of displays articulating experiences of homelessness. The space held sculptures, quotes, contributions from the community, and multiple interactive art pieces. The room was filled wall to wall and this was only possible because of the dedication our participants with lived experience had to the project.
