Little Hands at the Arts Building is a partnership between Deer Crossing The Art Farm and Huckleberry Coast Childcare Society. Operating out of the space known locally as the Arts Building, Friday mornings are reserved for family creativity and parental camaraderie at Little Hands. The space is equipped with art supplies, toys, puzzles, dress up, a full kitchen, cozy room, outdoor garden and sandbox, and plenty of space for exploration, We provide coffee for parents and snacks for kids along with a weekly creative activity for parents, children, or both.
We are mindful of the isolation that can be experienced in parenting young children. The aim of this program is for parents to connect and create in a laid back atmosphere where children are safe to explore. The art activities tend to use recycled, repurposed, or found materials and new themes are explored each week. Tapping into one’s creativity and connecting with peers can have a huge impact on the mental health of new parents. Our goal is to connect families through creative activities in a laid back atmosphere.
Little Hands is creative play for pre-schoolers (0 – 5 years) and home school families with primary age children (up to age 9) each Friday. The Little Hands program is delivered by the Arts Building and hosted by Sandy Buck & Chloe Langmaid. Our focus is for parents and caregivers to experience art, find their creative voice, build community and engage their children.
Mixed media, recycled materials, textiles, painting & sculpture.
