Education & Workshops

A major component of Deer Crossing The Art Farm’s programming is Education & Workshops. We often visit school classrooms, local groups, and public facilities to hold workshops. The workshops range from puppet-making to mask-work to multimedia art making on themes of ecological importance. For all of our workshops we aim to use found and recycled materials wherever possible.

Puppet Making Workshops

Deer Crossing the Art Farm loves to open people up to the world of puppetry. We have held many local shows, street performances  and workshops for children and adults. Often the team will join a local elementary school class to do puppet and mask workshops with the students. After crafting unique puppets or masks, the students can put on a show using their new characters.

Library Summer Camp

We visited a Library summer camp to do a show all about composting! We had a lot of fun working with the children at the summer camp to create and produce this performance.

Youth Engagement

Recently we visited a local High School to do a workshop on the topic of Eco Design. We challenged the students to design and create a piece in only thirty minutes using the recycled materials provided. This type of work helps inspire our youth to think more sustainably about their fashion and other purchases. The workshops also opened students up to the world of eco fashion and textile art.
